In the context of the #MEGA – Make Europe Great for All/Faire l’Europe pour tous campaign by the European Civic Forum, the Association Européenne de l’Éducation (AEDE-France) organised the 2019 #MEGA Contest, held from 2 September to 9 November 2020.
Young people stand up for Europe!
The theme of the contest, which was aimed at schools and leisure organisations in Europe, was #MEGA 2020: Young People for a Citizens’ Europe.
The competition entrants, aged from 8 to 18, were required to produce a short film illustrating positive European values. The Chairwoman of the FEDE Claude Vivier Le Got was one of this year’s judges.
The FEDE was particularly impressed by the film made by the students of Liceul Teoretic International de Informatica, Bucharest, who won the prize for their age category. The students underscored the values of peace, equality and respect; their film embodied the EU motto ‘in varietate concordia’ (‘united in diversity’).
The prizes will be awarded during an official ceremony on 19 December at the European Parliament in Strasbourg. The FEDE, which will be taking part at the event, would like to congratulate the AEDE for organising the contest, which will help to rally young Europeans around the European institutions and the values that unite us as Europeans.
