Deae Laazouzi: ‘I was won over by the prestige of your doctoral school.’

What did you study? I have a master’s in IT management for companies. Before that I obtained two bachelor’s degrees: one in economic and social sciences and the other in company law and management. Can you tell us about your professional experience? I have 10 years of professional experience. I first worked as a technical and financial assistant, then as a management controller, and finally as a human resources administrator – all in Tetouan, Morocco. Why did you choose the FEDE for your DBA? I was won over by the prestige and reputation of your doctoral school. Also, I’m a big fan of France, and so I wanted to gain a better knowledge of French culture. What is the goal of your doctoral research? ‘Knowledge management and social entrepreneurship’: [lire plus]

Isabelle Louchez: “The aftermath of the pandemic is an opportunity to boost women’s careers”

What did you study? I’ve always had a strong international focus. I have a Master’s in International Affairs (Université du Littoral), an MBA from Westford Grenoble and a BTS in International Trade. What have been the highlights of your career? I’ve been fortunate enough to acquire a great deal of professional experience over the past 20 years. In particular, I’ve worked in the finance and administration services of a number of international companies, including Hewlett Packard, Caterpillar and Schneider Electric. Why did you decide to enrol in the FEDE DBA? It’s not easy for women to build a career in international relations, and I wish to demonstrate that the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic is an opportunity to iron out certain inequalities. I’m referring to the wage gap, of course, [lire plus]

Interview with Patrick Lopez-Diot, Director of Cours Bufflier in Tahiti

Founded 51 years ago, Cours Bufflier is the only private higher educational institution in French Polynesia. How did you become a FEDE member? I first heard of the FEDE in 2012 from someone who occasionally taught at Cours Bufflier and who had their own FEDE member institution in Toulon. I then heard of it again from one of my former students, who continued her studies at a FEDE institution in Strasbourg. Having heard the name twice from two different people, and around the same time, I wanted to find out more. Thanks to our FEDE membership, we really stand out from public education institutions in French Polynesia. For example, we now offer an innovative bachelor’s level programme. French Polynesia is isolated from the rest of the world: we are in [lire plus]

Mini-article on the Proceedings of the 6th Forum of the World Committee for Lifelong Learning (WCLLL)

The World Committee for Lifelong Learning (WCLLL) was founded in 2005 by a team of education-sector professionals. A French association working to develop an ecosystem to promote learning in all its forms, the WCLLL is active in all segments of society: cultural, civil, academic, non-profit, economic and institutional. The FEDE and the WCLLL have been partners since 2013 and are working together to improve vocational training and access to lifelong learning (LLL) for all. The WCLLL has been organising world forums on learning-related topics since 2008. The 2010 Forum, for example, was entitled ‘What happens to the learner in the planet village?’, and the 2017 Forum focused on the topic ‘Reaching the Sustainable Development Goals via Lifelong Learning’. The most recent Forum took place in July 2021 at the [lire plus]

The cooperation GRECO-FEDE

The Group of States against Corruption (GRECO) is a specialised Council of Europe (CoE) entity founded in May 1999 to improve the capacity of Member States to fight corruption. It aims, via a dynamic evaluation process and mutual peer pressure, to ensure that countries uphold CoE anti-corruption standards. GRECO works to identify shortcomings in national anti-corruption policies and encourages states to introduce legislative, institutional and practical reforms where necessary. GRECO has 50 Member States, of which 46 are Council of Europe members. Other members include Belarus, Russia, the USA and Kazakhstan. From 2017 to 2019, GRECO and ethe FEDE jointly developed an innovative teaching module to raise higher-education students’ awareness of corruption and the need for anticorruption measures. The anti-corruption module forms part of the FEDE’s European Culture and [lire plus]

The FEDE, the Observatory on History Teaching in Europe (OHTE) and HISTOLAB (Transnational History Education and Co-operation Laboratory) project

Founded in November 2020 through a partial agreement signed by 17 Council of Europe (CoE) Member States, the Observatory on History Teaching in Europe (OHTE) arose in response to a difficult geopolitical context in Europe, where tensions are rife in a number of regions: Ukraine, Belarus, the Balkans, and the English Channel. Many Europeans are questioning verified facts, and certain agenda-driven national narratives are ignoring historical truths established by the community of academic historians. In such a situation, we need to reiterate our duty with respect to memory and historical research. This is particularly true in an educational setting, since learners may be tempted to have recourse to biased and unverified sources of information. The OHTE aims to provide a snapshot of the current situation of history teaching and [lire plus]

The Council of Europe’s Observatory for History Teaching in Europe (OHTE) Interview with Xavier Paroutaud, Director of Education at the FEDE

Invited by the OHTE to speak on 12 May 2022 as a panellist on the topic ‘The end of peace in Europe?’, Xavier Paroutaud answered questions posed by former minister and MEP Alain Lamassoure concerning the challenges facing democracy and the role of the Council of Europe and the Observatory in promoting balanced and dispassionate history teaching. How can we define Europe and describe its history? That depends on which Europe we are talking about, on our perspective and our field; but it is essential to use history to describe Europe. In this sense, we would probably have to start with a geographical description, then think about constructing a history of the continent (to the extent that there is such a history or that it is possible to do [lire plus]

We speak to Jack Gervis, chairman of Astralios Group, and Natalia Gervis. A new member of the Federation for EDucation in Europe, Astralios Group has two FEDE member institutions: Envoll in Aix-en-Provence and AS Formation in Strasbourg. We wanted to find out more about these two institutions and their educational vision. You are a new member of the Federation for EDucation in Europe. Astralios Group has two educational institutions: AS Formation and Envoll. Can you tell us how the institutions merged? Following the adoption, in 2018, of a French law overhauling professional education, it has become important to group together skills-acquisition actors, like AS Formation and Envoll, that are committed to innovation, synergies and collective intelligence. By merging the two institutions, we are now able to meet the needs of [lire plus]

Oualae Ferrio: ‘Sound thought is a prerequisite for sound action’

What did you study ? I have a bachelor’s in economics and a master’s in finance, banking and markets (Abdelmalk Essaadi University, Tanger, 2015). What have been the highlights of your career so far ? I am currently administrative manager for a company specialised in dashboards. Previously I worked as customer manager for a bank and as a customer advisor at the Tanger ferry terminal. Why have you chosen to enrol in the FEDE DBA ? The main reason why I chose the FEDE is because it is prestigious and has a great reputation in Morocco. Also, I studied the FEDE’s proposal closely and could not help noticing that it offered exactly what I was looking for: I want to improve my managerial skills and better acquaint myself with new [lire plus]
