The Foundation Degree: Legal Assistant provides basic knowledge of both private and public law. It trains students to use their knowledge in a practical way in a professional context. Legal assistants work with legal professionals (lawyers, notaries, bailiffs, experts, adjudicators etc.), the directors of SMEs and legal affairs/human resources managers in commercial and non-commercial organisations. Legal assistants prepare and classify files pertaining to lawsuits. They also file evidence, write up legal acts (contracts, minutes, demands for payment, leases etc.), whose contents are checked by a lawyer, and carry out the associated formalities. In doing so, legal assistants ensure respect for (administrative, fiscal and other) procedures and deadlines. Legal assistants can also work in litigation management at a bank or insurance company.
