Doctorate of Business Administration

The FEDE, driven to empower individuals with the means for engaging in effective thought process conducive to efficient action, is endowed with a research institute, serving as a think tank dedicated to the science of education and matters affecting professional training and emerging professions.

The FEDE Research Institute aims to demonstrate that ideas enable businesses to innovate, transform and gain in efficiency, that knowledge should serve education and employment, that brainpower can and must constitute an absolute added value for the businesses of today and tomorrow.

To this effect, the FEDE Research Institute, through its doctoral school, has launched an applied research programme: The FEDE DBA (Doctorate of Business Administration).

Through research work, publications and its connections with the corporate world, the FEDE Research Institute – an international community made up of about 1000 Ph.D. professionals, all prominent international experts in their given fields, offers a fresh approach to management practices in Europe and around the world: by establishing a forum for discussing management practices; by discussing topics such as commitment, risk, trust or contribution of new generations; by encouraging research on the impact of societal changes on organisational management; and, by exploring issues stemming from innovation, transition and transformation.

FEDE DBA diplomas were designed as an intellectual approach based on research/action.
This methodology allows doctoral students to gain, over several years, extensive insights into the relationship between reflection and action. The methodology consists of:
– Gaining perspective on professional implications and commitments
– Producing and transferring elements of knowledge that will bear on and shape societal trends

What is a DBA?

The DBA (Doctorate of Business Administration) is a doctoral programme that takes about three years to complete (on average), devised for managers, consultants, experienced lecturers or leaders seeking to enhance their careers by engaging in research work.

The goal is to provide these professionals with a forum for generating ideas, engaging in scientific analysis and for adopting an academic frame of reference in order to optimise corporate management, mitigate decision-making risks, maintain an innovative edge, and devise effective and responsible strategies.

It spurs development of a new rigorous mindset, pushes one to think outside the box and helps structure management models. Approaching practices based on proof (rather than trends) implies taking a step back from events, acquiring new authority perceptible by one’s colleagues, and becoming a “resourceful staff member” in terms of resolving problems affecting the company.

Designed as a part-time program so as to meet professional constraints, the DBA diplomas are research/action programmes that are compatible with an active career.

Why opt for a FEDE DBA?

FEDE DBAs enhance professional experience, provide career prospects and build the trust capital of the diploma holder, which is a gateway to recognized expert status among peers.

FEDE DBAs, diplomas of a high international added value, provide an opportunity to stand out from the now ubiquitous Master’s degrees.

The diplomas also enable experienced executives (with a Master’s degree or not) to gain perspective on one’s management practices, validate expertise, substantiate one’s authority and gain the capacity to aim for new responsibilities. As such, DBA diplomas differ from Ph.D.s, which are only concerned with theory.

Today, companies also value these types of diplomas. Faced with ever-increasing competition, a complex world, more cutting edgetechnologies and faster and more global information exchange, companies seek to hire staff with interdisciplinary skill sets and the capacity to think global, innovate, design new and inventive models tailored to the changes in society.

To this effect, most DBA holders work in large international corporations operating in sectors ranging from consultancy, finance to industry. A number of leading groups have made the DBA an integral part of their career management policy.

The FEDE DBA fields of research are now extremely varied and address the needs of managers, ranging from staff administration to management strategies. Sectors of study include: tourism, hotel industry, luxury products, design, fashion and culture; finance, banking and insurance; computer and information technologies.
